Overview

The David Kenneth Group is seeking to add a qualified Sr Virtualization Architect to its team of experienced data center migration professionals.  We specialize in data center transformations.  Our services include data center migrations, infrastructure optimization, and advisory services for large enterprise clients. Due to high demand for our services, we are seeking to add a Virtualization Architect to our team. 

 

Our typical engagements are relocations, mergers, consolidations, and modernizations lasting anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Our clients usually operate between 300 and 2000+ virtual servers providing critical services such health care, financial services, media, retail, utilities and national defense systems.  Data Center migration projects are mission-critical, come with inherent risks and the qualified candidate must have previous experience with data center migrations, consolidations and/or relocations.  The candidate must be a proactive team player with a dynamic personality comfortable working in highly available, fast-paced, client-intensive environments. 

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate broad VM experience in both design and deployment (VMWare and Hyper-V). Significant migration experience is a must. This is NOT a position for which you will be trained.

Qualifications

Job Specs: 

  • Full Time w/benefits 
  • US Citizen (Unable to sponsor H1B Visa’s at this time) 
  • Travel 25% (Approximately1wk/month average) 
  • Telecommute (but must be willing to support any US time zone) 

Key Qualifications: 

  • 5+ Years of Technology Infrastructure experience 
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with designing and implementing enterprise (multi-site, >250 VM’s) virtualized and cloud based infrastructure 
  • Certifications are a plus (VCP-DCV, VCAP) 
  • Hands-on implementation of VMware 5.x & Guest OS 
  • Expert knowledge of one or more Operating Systems (Windows 2003/2008/2012; Linux-Redhat, SUSE, etc) 
  • Working knowledge of Networking (Troubleshooting connectivity at host & vm level, Distributed Virtual Switch) 
  • Working Knowledge of Storage (Provisioning, connecting hosts to FC, NFS, FCoE Storage) 
  • Significant P2V & V2V experience using scripting and/or tools (Converter, DoubleTake, Platespin, Veeam) 
  • Hands on Experience with VMware automated tools such as PowerCli, vCO 
  • Must be able to support highly-available and business critical infrastructure 
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas to technical staff and management concisely 

Preferred Skills/Experience: 

  • Consulting experience 
  • Data Center Migration experience 
  • Cisco UCS and/or converged compute/storage/network solutions 
  • EMC, Netapp, or IBM storage & technologies 
  • Storage Virtualization & Replication Experience (RecoverPoint, SnapMirror, SRDF, VPLEX) 
  • VDI (Citrix or VMware) 
  • Cisco Nexus (including storage networking)
